Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – The Brandon Bobcats women’s volleyball team is heading to Edmonton fighting for their playoff lives.
The Bobcats are taking on the University of Alberta Pandas in two games on Friday and Saturday.
They are on the outside looking in with a 10-12 record, one game back of Mount Royal and Manitoba with 11-11 records.
Even a game behind with only two games left on the season, Brandon sits with the most comfortable position playing the "easiest" team over the weekend.
Mount Royal will take on the 19-3 Calgary Dinos, Manitoba faces 18-4 UBC Okanagan, while the Bobcats’ opponent – Alberta – has a 13-9 record.
One win during the weekend, and sweeps by one of the two teams ahead of them will put the Bobcats in the playoffs.
"We know we have to win two to make it, with one win putting us in a tiebreaker," said Interim coach Kevin Neufeld.
Brandon could’ve put themselves in a more favourable position last weekend when they took on Mount Royal, but ended up blowing a 2-0 set lead on Friday.
"We’re done with that weekend, and we know the task at hand this upcoming weekend." said Neufeld.
Friday game starts at 7:00pm, while the Saturday game starts at 7:30pm.
