Const. Dave Scott talks to Tim Shackel (orange) and rest of Vincent Massey students

Students from Vincent Massey High School took part in "Distracted Driving 101", a course put on by CAA Manitoba.

The kids would drive a golf cart through a course driving normally, and then do the same course while texting.

Tim Shackel was one of the students, and prior to participating, he feared his phone gave him a disadvantage...

After running the course without texting, Shackel had set the time trial record with a time of 2 minutes and 7 seconds.

He felt confident going into the next part of the course.

However, the confidence wouldn't last as he would run over a pylon and drag it for a lap.

The question is, would he ever consider driving distracted again?

The course finished with Const. Dave Scott telling the students about his experiences with finding people who do text and drive.

Here is a video of one of the students hitting a pylon, and driving the course!
