Fewer fires reported this year compared to 2018

The provincial government says the fire danger in most areas of Manitoba is moderate but dry conditions have increased the risk.

Two fires in Southern Manitoba over the long weekend required intervention.

64 fires have been reported this year which is much lower than the 100 usually experienced by this time of year.

Conditions are a little drier in Westman, but the forecast shows the potential of up to 20 mm of rain this weekend.

Meanwhile, the RM of Whitehead has added itself to the list of local governments with burn bans in place.

Whitehead's ban includes all outdoor fires including fire pits and barrels.
