Swift Current, SK (CKLQ) – It was a night to remember for Swift Current Broncos Captain Glenn Gawdin. The 20-year-old forward played in his 300th career WHL game, recorded his 100th point of the season and added a goal for good measure as the Broncos beat the Wheat Kings 5-2 on Saturday night.
Matteo Gennaro had a two goal night for the Broncos while Aleksi Heopniemi chipped in with a pair of assist as well. The win for the Broncos helps them keep pace with the East Division leading Moose Jaw Warriors, who also won on Saturday night.
Brandon got goals from Jonny Hooker an Ty Lewis and despite chances late in the third period, couldn’t mount a comeback.
Logan Thompson, who was making his 6th straight start turned aside 25 saves while Winnipeg native Joel Hofer picked up the win by turning aside 22 shots.
These two teams will meet again on Wednesday night back in Swift Current. (7:00 on QCountry Radio.)
