Saskatoon, SK (CKLQ) - The athletic therapist who was aboard the Humboldt Broncos bus when it crashed on Friday has succumbed to her injuries and died today, according to the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
Dayna Brons, 25, suffered serious head trauma according to her family.
Friends and family of the young woman had said although she'd gone through two surgeries and was on breathing apparatus, that they'd hoped she would pull through.
Her family confirmed in a statement to the Canadian Press Wednesday that she had died peacefully.
The statement read, "She was surrounded by those she loved and those who loved her. Dayna will be forever remembered for her joyful smile, and her passion and love of sport."
Brons was the only woman aboard the Broncos' team bus when it collided with a transport truck on April 6.
