Brandon, MB (CKLQ) - Brandon Police have recovered a number of weapons after responding to a shoplifting incident.
At about 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, officers were contacted about a man stealing items at a grocery store in the 1500 block of 18th St.
Police said they attended, and found the suspect in a parking lot in the 1900 block of Richmond Ave.
According to police, the suspect was ordered to stop but fled on foot as officers approached.
He was arrested after a brief foot-chase.
Police said the suspect appeared to be high on drugs, and was found to be in possession of a machete and two knives.
Police said a search of the suspects backpack revealed a number of stolen items including a hatchet, four folding knives and numerous pieces of clothing and food items.
The suspect was lodged at the Correction Centre, and will appear in court on Sunday.
