The man is in hospital after the accident


Russell, MB (CKLQ) - A 53-year-old Winnipeg man is in hospital with minor injuries after a plane crash at the Russell airport Wednesday morning.

RCMP say a single occupant sprayer plane was trying to land on a runway at the airport, but lost control and flipped into a swampy area at around 10:00 a.m.

The man is in the hospital after the accident.

RCMP say at the time of the crash the winds were strong.

The runway was shut down shortly after, but has since reopened.
