UPDATE: Portage RCMP identify suspect in aggravated assault

Isadore Junior Vermette from Portage la Prairie is wanted


Portage la Prairie, MB (CKLQ) - Portage la Prairie RCMP have identified a suspect in an aggravated assault incident.

Police say the suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Isadore Junior Vermette from Portage la Prairie.

He is indigenous with a medium build, standing 5'9" and weighing approximately 190 pounds.

He has brown hair and brown eyes with multiple tattoos on his arms.

Vermette is at large on a warrant for his arrest, on criminal charges of aggravated assault, breaking and entering and possession of a weapon.

Police say they believe the assault was a targeted attack, and the suspect and the victim knew each other.

Portage la Prairie, MB (CKLQ) - Portage la Prairie RCMP are looking for a suspect after they found a resident with serious injuries.

Police say around 8:30am on Wednesday, they were called to a residence on the 1400 Block of McKay Avenue.

When they arrived, they say they found a resident of the home with injuries after an aggravated assault.

The victim was transported to hospital for serious, life-threatening injuries.

At this time, the victim is in stable condition.

Portage RCMP media officer, Cst. Sean O'Keefe says they do not believe there is a risk to the general public.

"We think this was a targeted attack," said O'Keefe. "We do not believe there is a greater risk to the public at this time."

Investigators are asking that anyone with information to contact the Portage RCMP or Manitoba Crime Stoppers.
