When the spawning season is done, the restrictive measures will be lifted

Dauphin, MB (CKLQ) - Temporary conservation measures have been enacted to protect walleye populations at Dauphin Lake and its tributaries.

The province's sustainable development sector says more effort is necessary to protect the endangered fish during a critical part of its life-cycle.

No commercial or recreational fishing is allowed, but Aboriginal rights holders may continue to harvest by angling only.

When the spawning season is done, the restrictive measures will be lifted.
