Vancouver, BC (CKLQ) – The Vancouver Giants have recalled Brandon AAA Midget Wheat Kings goaltender Trent Miner for the remainder of the season.
Miner was selected by the Giants in the first-round in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.
Miner will be leaving the first place Wheat Kings, with 30 appearances. He’s gone 17-3-0-0 with a .941 save percentage, a 1.64 goals-against-average and two shutouts, leading the league in many categories.
"It’s hard to leave what you’ve built with this team," said Miner, "But it’s a step I’ve been waiting to take."
Miner says he’s excited his backup in Brandon, Keegan Watkins-McIntyre, will be getting an opportunity to shine.
"Keegan’s a great goalie and he has never had a super lucky break, but I think this is his opportunity," said Miner, "I have full faith in him that he will carry the team."
In a statement, Vancouver Giants General Manager Glen Hanlon said “We’re very excited to welcome Trent back to Vancouver."
