Brandon Wheat Kings General Manager Darren Ritchie pulled the trigger on his first deal in his new role on Tuesday afternoon.
The Wheat Kings acquired 17-year-old forward Riley Ginnell from the Kamloops Blazers in exchange for a sixth-round pick in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft.
Ginnell, the younger brother of Winnipeg ICE forward Brad Ginnell spent last season with the Edge School Prep Team where he scored 10 goals and added 9 assists in 24 games.
“We are happy to acquire Riley from Kamloops,” said Ritchie. “He’s a smart player with good skill. He will be a good addition to our forward group.”
The Calgary native is expected to arrive in Brandon on Wednesday and could make his WHL debut with the Wheat Kings on Friday night vs the Winnipeg ICE.
