Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – Schael Higson played the role of overtime hero on Sunday afternoon as his slap-shot in the extra frame lifted the Wheat Kings to a 6-5 come from behind victory over the Prince Albert Raiders.
The Raiders had every opportunity to win the game on Sunday, including having a pair of two goal leads in the third period but a relentless Wheat Kings club clawed back to win their 6th straight game.
Stelio Mattheos and Ty Lewis each had three point nights while Gunnar Wegleitner extended his goal scoring streak to six games.
Brandon finished the night 3/6 on the powerplay and killed off four of five opportunities for the Raiders.
Dylan Myskiw got the start in goal and made 20 saves for his 2nd win as a Wheat King, while Curtis Meager stopped 26 shots in the losing effort.
Brandon will put their win streak on the line on Wednesday when they head to Regina to take on the Pats. Game time is 8:00 MB time (7:30 pre-game show on 91.5 FM & 880 AM)
