Yorkton man faces weapons charges

Brandon Police dismantle home made explosive


Brandon, MB (CKLQ) - A 33-year-old man from Yorkton is facing a fistful of weapons charges.

Brandon Police say that they were called to a home in the 400 block of 10th avenue Thursday.  A home owner claimed the door to the residence had been damaged the day before with what looked like gun shots.

Police visited the home and found multiple knives, two CO2 pellet guns, and what appeared to be a homemade explosive device.

Police dismantled the device, arrested and charged the man with Breach of Probation, Possession of a Prohibited Firearm, Possession of an Explosive for an Unlawful Purpose, Possession of a Weapon, as well as Possession of Stolen Property, as they also found several pieces of stolen identification.

A 49 year old Brandon woman has been jointly charged with the weapons offenses.

The investigation is continuing.
