bar that will serve only alcohol-free drinks

There's a new, unique bar set to open in Brandon in early spring next year.

Sober Bar, the first of its kind in Manitoba, is an idea thats been brought up by Community Health and Housing Association, says Regional Manager, Glen Kruck.

He says, a person who has been in recovery, who enjoys going out to play pool, said its tough to do without having the tempatation of alcohol around.

Sober bar will remove that temptation; it will be a lounge, with pool tables, except, there will be no liquor served. Kruck says they will have alcohol-free drinks such as smoothies, virgin Pina Coladas and virgin ceasers.

But thats not all, he says the plan is to have a karaoke night every Friday, bands on Saturdays and show major sports events, like the Grey Cup.

Sober bar will be located at 1202 Rosser Ave. and Kruck says CHHA is looking for donations to help get it up and running. Donations can be sent to the organization directly.
