44 new cases and one additional death due to COVID-19 reported in Manitoba

The province is reporting one new death due to COVID-19, a man in his 30s from the Winnipeg health region, increasing the toll to 1,166.

Health officials also announced 44 new cases of the virus, however, eleven cases have been removed due to case corrections, bringing the total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba to 57,269.

Of the new cases; two are in Prairie Mountain health, three are in the Northern health region, 11 in the Southern health region, 12 in the Interlake-Eastern health region, and 16 in the Winnipeg health region. 

In Prairie Mountain Health, 69 cases remain active, eight of which are in Brandon, and across the province there are 916. There's also 105 covid patients currently in hospital, and 29 receiving intensive care.

Meanwhile, the current five-day test positivity rate decreased slightly to 3.5 per cent provincially, down from 3.6 on Tuesday (July 20). The total number of variant of concern cases in Manitoba also increased to 16,385. Of those, 1,353 have been discovered in Prairie Mountain Health.
