Crashes on Manitoba highways have dropped 20%, and it's being attributed to fewer vehicles on the roads because of COVID-19 precautions.
Brian Smiley, at Manitoba Public Insurance, says there were 9,016 claims, as of March 19th, compared with 10,668 last year.
He says all road tests have been cancelled - and you're encouraged to renew driver’s licences and make payments online - or through your autopac agent.
Smiley also says if you're driving less you might qualify for some discounts. He says for example, you can change your Autopac from basic to a lay-up option. This means your vehicle stays parked, but you're still covered for fire and theft.
Another option is flipping from all-purpose insurance to pleasure use. Smiley says you can contact your broker for details.
