The Daly House Museum is excited to announce the launch of its first-ever online Spring into Spring 50/50 lottery.

Today until midnight May 7th, tickets for the 50/50 raffle can be purchased through the Funding Change website. The winner of the draw will be announced on May 8th just in time for Mother’s Day.

Vice President of Daly House Museum, Shari Dressler, says they've never done this type of lottery before, "Due to Covid-19 restrictions the Museum’s avenues for raising money have been limited. Around this time of year, we’ve hosted in person events such as our Annual Fundraising Dinner or Mother’s Day Tea. Currently, we are unable to host such events. However, the Spring into Spring 50/50 lottery is a fundraiser that we can do virtually. It gives our community the chance on the 50/50 draw- while supporting the preservation of our local history."

Over the last 43 years Daly House has been preserving the area’s local history and has gathered an unique collection of photographs, artifacts, and documents. These objects tell the story of the area’s past and how it has changed over the decades. For instance, the Museum has photographs and artifacts related to the operations of Christie’s School Supply -now Christie’s Office Plus. These objects depict the evolution of Christie’s from a local bookstore to the largest school supply business in Western Canada. They are some of the few items related to the company history that remain after the 2018 fire at Christie’s Pacific Avenue location destroyed much of the business’s heritage.

"These artifacts survive because they became part of the Museum’s collections." says curator Eileen Trott. "Their existence means that Daly House will be able to provide Christie’s with a link to their past through a special display for their 140th anniversary. We wouldn’t be able to provide such services to the community with out the money raised through fundraisers such as the Spring into Spring 50/50 lottery."

The 50/50 grand prize will be drawn on May 8th, and the winning ticket will take home 50% of the tickets sold. The remaining proceeds will go towards purchasing preservation supplies for photographs, artifacts and documents at Daly House Museum.

Tickets for the Spring into Spring 50/50 draw can be purchased for $10.00 each or three for $25.00. For a full list of contest rules, and to purchase tickets visit Daly House Museum or call 204-727-1722.
