After a silver medal at the 2021 World Junior Hockey Championship, Wheat Kings defenseman Braden Schneider is headed to the AHL, at least for the time being.

Vince Mercogliano of the USA Today is reporting that the New York Rangers have signed Schneider to an AHL contract. The team plans for him to play with the Hartford Wolfpack until the WHL season begins, at which point he could return to the Wheat City.

Full details of the contract have not been released, but it is beleived that this type of contract would have zero bearing on any potential NHL Entry-Level Contracts.

The AHL is set to begin on February 5th.
