The Brandon Wheat Kings turned in one of their best performances of the year in a 4-0 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers on Tuesday night.
Ethan Kruger made 32 saves, including 18 in the third period for his 2nd career shutout and 7th win of the season.
"It was a total team effort tonight, right from the goaltender out," said Assistant Coach Don MacGillivray. "Everybody did their jobs tonight, we followed the game plan perfectly and started the game on time."
Brandon scored twice on the powerplay tonight and killed off all three Tiger man advantages. The Wheat Kings now have eight powerplay goals in their last four games.
"We had two huge penalty kills in the first period and then our powerplay took over," added MacGillivray. "When you win the special teams battle on a night like tonight that is usually a recipe for success."
Ridly Greig, Neithan Salame, Luka Burzan and Connor Gutenberg scored for the Wheat Kings on a night where nine players registered at least a point.
"Tonight was our best game out of the road trip. We're getting better every night and you can see guys starting to gain confidence and doing things the way we need them to be done in order to win hockey games."
The Wheat Kings finish the three-game Alberta road trip with a record of 11-13-0-0, leaving them 4th place in the East Division.
Brandon will play three of four games on home ice to end the month of November. The Calgary Hitmen come to town on Friday night, with the Regina Pats rolling in the following night. Both games begin at 7:30, with the QCountry pre-game show at 7:00.
