The Brandon Wheat Kings put together another character victory inside the Subway Hub on Monday night, beating the Prince Albert Raiders 3-2.

The win extends Brandon's win streak to seven games and pushes them into sole possesion of top spot in the East Division with 21 points.

In the second of back to back nights, the Wheat Kings got goals from Jake Chiasson, Nolan Ritchie and Ridly Greig on route to the Victory, while Ethan Kruger picked up win number eight on the year with a 31 save performance.

"I couldn't be more proud of our team tonight," said Head Coach Don MacGillivray. "We have had two real tough games here this week. P.A was very good tonight, playing a playoff style game and we matched it."

Kruger's win on Monday night caps of a day where he was also named the WHL's Goalie of the Week.

While they may not show up on the scoresheet, Ridly Greig's late game defensive heroics ultimately lead to the win. The Ottawa Senators prospect blocked two huge shots and then scored the eventual game winner while short-handed to cap off a two-point night.

"The ankle is starting to swell up now," chuckled Greig. "Honestly, it felt good at the time...there is not better time to block a shot than that and get the boys fired up."

Brandon is now tied with the Portland Winterhawks for the league lead in shorthanded goals with five.

The Wheat Kings are now 3-0-0-0 in the second game on back to back nights, thanks in large part to being able to roll four lines and six defenseman on a consistent basis.

"Our older guys, the leadership group tonight was outstanding," added MacGillivray. "Our goalie made some big saves and it was a real team effort here tonight."

After back to back seven goal blowouts, the Wheat Kings proved to the doubters that they can win the tight games with back to back victories coming with some late game defensive heroics.

"A game like this is so fun to play in," added Greig. "When you get down or up a goal and have a six on five at the end, games like that are what you play for. Those things make hockey so much fun."

The Wheat Kings will look to make it eight in a row on Wednesday night when they take on the Swift Current Broncos. (9:00 P.M. on Q Country Radio.)
