A preliminary report indicates a bird strike may have brought down a Snowbirds jet, in BC last month, that killed Air Force Public Affairs Officer, Captain Jennifer Casey, and injured pilot Captain Richard MacDougall.
Both Casey and MacDougall, ejected. MacDougall is expected to make a full recovery.
The Canadian Air Force says video footage of the plane, just before the crash, showed a bird very close to the plane’s right engine intake “during the critical phase of take-off.”
The Snowbirds were on a cross-country flyover tour to raise spirits during COVID-19 when the crash happened in Kamloops on May 17th.
