On August 8, 2022, Brandon police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision near the 1000 block of Middleton Avenue at approximately 8:00 am. Police say their investigation revealed that the two drivers were formerly involved in a relationship and were allegedly involved in a dispute. Police say one was chasing the other while driving their vehicles in the area. Both drivers had allegedly been drinking. Neither were injured in the collision. A 36-year-old woman was arrested and provided samples of her breath, which police say were over the legal limit. She was released to a sober relative and will appear in court on August 15, 2022 on a charge of Driving while Ability Impaired. A 39-year-old man blew a warn on the ASD and received a seven day driving suspension.

On August 8, 2022, police responded to a report of a male who stole merchandise from a business in the 000 block of Willowdale Crescent shortly after 12:00 pm. Police say before he left, he threw rocks at the windows but did not cause any damage. Police were able to identify the suspect from security footage, and located a man yelling and screaming while swinging a hammer a short distance away. When police attempted to arrest the male, he initially resisted before being taken into custody. A 29-year-old man was lodged at Brandon Police Service. He will appear in court today on charges of Theft Under $5000, Fail to Comply with Probation, Fail to Comply with Release Order, and Possession of a Weapon.

On August 8, 2022 shortly before 3:00 pm, Brandon police responded to a report of an intoxicated youth in the 200 block of 12th Street. The youth’s caregiver was attempting to convince the 16-year-old girl to come home, but was unsuccessful and the youth fled. Police arrested the youth and lodged her at Brandon Police Service, as her caregivers were unable to keep her safe. She will be released to them once sober and will receive fines for consuming underage.

On August 8, 2022, police responded to a report of a 28-year-old man who was causing problems at a business in the 1900 block of Richmond Avenue at approximately 6:00 pm. Police say he was found to be on a court condition not to attend the business. A suepect was arrested and later released to appear in court on October 3, 2022 on a charge of Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

On August 8, 2022 shortly before 10:00 pm, Brandon police responded to a report of a vehicle striking a parked car in the 200 block of Brandon Avenue. Police say the 56-year-old female driver displayed signs of impairment, but she refused to provide a breath sample on the ASD. She was arrested and will appear in court on September 6, 2022 on a charge of Refuse ASD.

On August 8, 2022 shortly before 11:00 pm, police responded to a report of an intoxicated female near the 800 block of Pacific Avenue. The 22-year-old had nowhere to stay and she was in no condition to care for herself, so she was lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.

On August 8, 2022, Brandon police located and arrested a 42-year-old man who was wanted on outstanding charges of Possession of a Weapon, Fail to Appear, Fail to Comply with Release Order. Upon his arrest, he was found to be in possession of stolen property. He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today.
