A pair of Brandonites have hit the jackpot.
Coworkers David Morley and Jean Riviere made the decision to start playing the lottery together about nine months ago, and they’re now splitting $1 million. The pair won on the April 18th LOTTO 6/49 guaranteed prize draw.
Morley picked up the duo’s winning ticket the day before the draw at the 7-Eleven at 701 10th Street.
In a press release Morley says when he checked online the day after the draw and saw there was a Manitoba winner, he started to get his hopes up. He then confirmed them after work when he stopped in to use a ticket checker at a nearby gas station, and discovered he and Riviere had matched the winning numbers.
As for what they’ll do with the money, Morley says he’ll use his share of the winnings to help pay off his mortgage, and then he and his wife might consider getting a cabin.
