A 33-year-old man was arrested, early Tuesday morning in Brandon, on charges of assaulting a police officer.
He allegedly punched a cop in the face when police responded to a disturbance in a backyard in the 800 block of 9th Street at around 4:20 am.
Police say the man, who they believe was under the influence of methamphetamine, was also charged with resisting arrest.

Brandon Police are looking for two suspects who allegedly bear-sprayed and robbed a delivery driver of his cell phone – it happened near 9th Street and Park Avenue on Monday.
The two suspects are described as Indigenous in appearance, 17 to 19-years-old, and about 5-10 in height. Both suspects wore dark hoodies and jeans, and fled the area on foot.
And also on Monday, police arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly stealing a bluetooth speaker from a downtown business.
Not only that, but police say when confronted by staff, the suspect pulled a knife and threatened to stab the employee.

Brandon police are searching for whoever stole a car from the downtown area just before 1:30 am Tuesday morning.
Officers say the stolen vehicle was a 2002 Grey 4 door Chevrolet Cavalier with a Manitoba License Plate – HBZ – 723.
And police say a vehicle was reported stolen just after 5:00 Tuesday morning in the 2000 block of Queens Street.
Officers managed to locate the vehicle, and a 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.
