For many Manitoba businesses getting back to pre-COVID-19 levels is going to be difficult.
A Leger survey for the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce found 40% of business owners say it’ll take at least a year – while 16% believe they’ll never get there.
Some other results – the survey found 85% of medium to large businesses remained open during the pandemic – compared to 62% of small businesses.
For small companies “debt repayment” is one of their biggest concerns right now.
It’s not all doom and gloom, the survey also found that while retailers and the hospitality industries suffered the most during the lockdown – agriculture, manufacturing, transportation, and construction all reported growth, and in some cases, up to 50%.
