Voting is underway in a new national initiative from BASF Canada Agricultural Solutions that aims to invest in rural communities.
‘Growing Home with BASF’ will provide $25,000 to one of five finalists from Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.
Just north of Brandon, the community of Forrest is one of the five finalists in Manitoba. The Forrest Special Projects Group is looking to build a centrally located community park with an outdoor playground, picnic area and multisport court.
Currently, the only park available for local children is located on the west side of Highway 10 that divides the town, and most of the children in Forrest live on the east side, making it largely inaccessible due to safety concerns around crossing the highway.
The group also says that after the pandemic, they noticed a need for safe outdoor community spaces for children, youth, and adults. “Children need natural settings to play and interact, and adults benefit from outdoor community spaces to gather for fellowship.”
You can vote until May 31st at https://agro.basf.ca/growinghome/voting.html – and this will determine which organization from each province will receive a $25,000 grant.
The other finalists in Manitoba are the Louise Aquatic Centre, the Notre Dame Arena, St. Lazare Athletics and Woodlands Childcare Inc.
