Six different Wheat Kings had multi-point nights as Brandon beat the Moose Jaw Warriors 8-3 on Tuesday night.
Braden Schneider, who was playing in his 200th career WHL game carried the mail for his club recording a season high three assists on the night. Nolan Ritchie also had a trio of points with a goal and two assists.
After back to back losses where goals were hard to find, on Tuesday all but four players found their way onto the scoresheet.
“We could have used a few of these goals the last two games,” chuckled Head Coach Don MacGillivray. “I think our guys really took advantage of what they gave us tonight and we we’re hard on pucks.”
Ty Thorpe scored twice for the first time in his career. The Brandon native had been snake bitten with just one goal in 13 games this season.
“It feels great to finally put a couple onto the scoreboard,” said Forward Ty Thorpe. “It’s been a long time coming. I think my game has progressed a lot this year but tonight was just two great plays by my linemates.”
Rookie defenseman Logen Hammet had a career night as well finishing with two assists and a +1 rating.
“We couldn’t put the puck in the net in the Saskatoon game, so it was good to get a few here and build some confidence,” added Defenseman Logen Hammett.
Brandon scored three times on the powerplay and have now scored on four of their ten man advantages vs the Warriors.
Connor Ungar made a season high 37 saves for his 4th win of the season, while Brett Mirwald and Boston Bilous combined to make 26 saves in the Warriors net.
The win pulls Brandon back into a tie with the Saskatoon Blades for top spot in the East Division. The Blades will meet Swift Current tomorrow afternoon with the Wheat Kings and Winnipeg ICE set to meet in the late game. (9:00 on Q Country Radio)
