RCMP Major Crime Services and Manitoba First Nations Police Service continue to investigate the death of a 36-year-old male from Canupawakpa Dakota Nation.
The death has now been determined a homicide. The victim’s name is Mathew Brown.

ORIGINAL POLICE RELEASE:
On July 9, 2022, at approximately 9:20 am, Manitoba First Nations Police Service officers attended to a complaint of assault at a residence in Canupawakpa Dakota Nation. When officers arrived on scene, a 36-year-old male from Canupawakpa was located deceased inside the residence. The death is considered suspicious.
RCMP Major Crime Services has taken carriage of the investigation and continues to be assisted by the Manitoba First Nations Police Service in the ongoing investigation.
RCMP Forensic Identification Services remain on scene.
