A traffic stop on Highway 1 over the weekend, just outside Portage la Prairie, has resulted in the seizure of drugs.
On Saturday (Apr 17), just after 4:00 pm, RCMP pulled over a vehicle, and during a search found nine ounces of methamphetamine, an unknown substance that is being tested and properly identified, and a prohibited weapon.
A 37-year-old man from Portage and a 40-year-old woman from the RM of Portage were arrested.
The man was charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine and released from custody.
The woman has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine, Fail to Comply with an Undertaking, and Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Weapon. She remains in custody.
RCMP continue to investigate.
