On January 17, 2022, at approximately 3:55 am, RCMP responded to a robbery with a firearm at a residence on 3rd Street NE in Portage la Prairie.
Three males gained entry into the residence. One male was carrying a firearm, and another male was carrying bear spray. The victims in the home were forced into the basement and sprayed with bear spray. The suspects stole numerous items and fled the scene.
Officers responded immediately and made patrols, and a firearm was recovered in a nearby yard.
During the course of the investigation, officers identified the three suspects and obtained warrants for their arrest.
RCMP say 29-year-old Maurice Merrick has been arrested, and police continue to search for Jordan Chartrand and Mitchell Hunter.

Possession of a Firearm when Possession is Unauthorized
Administer Noxious Substance x2
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Weapons Possession Contrary to Order
He is 5’5″, 120lbs with black hair and brown eyes.
Mitchell Hunter, 38, is wanted for:
Robbery with a Firearm x2
Break and Enter
He is 5’11”, 205lbs with black hair and brown eyes.
