The Province is changing the way it reports cases in schools.

In watching yesterday‘s press conference with our Chief Public Health Officer I was glad to hear that the province will NO LONGER be identifying classrooms when a case of COVID-19 is confirmed.  It will be the school ONLY.  Why am I glad?  Because even after multiple appeals for kindness, and patience, and respect..... social media seems to reveal the very worst in many of us.  That was the case after our first confirmation of COVID at Churchill and made worse after the confirmation of a local case in a local school at the New Era.  From now on, when we hear there is a case in a Manitoba school we will simply get the name of the school and that’s all.  And that’s a good thing.  Because we are only going to get through this by attacking the virus, and not each other.

Sticking to the fundamentals.  That’s how we’re gonna get through this. Not by attacking schools or attacking victims of the virus or attacking decision-makers or attacking fellow parents.  Wash your hands.  Social distance.  Keep groups small.  Wear masks.  And BE KIND.  And if you can’t be kind on social media and you were that concerned for your kids maybe it is best to keep them at home.
