OPINION: Grilled summer foods are the best foods.

My favourite thing about the warmer months is breaking out the BBQ, hands down. I don't know if it's the fresh air, the flame kissed delicacies, or some awesome combination of the two...but I daresay that BBQ season produces some of the most delicious meals around. This leads me to my question/request today: Give me your grilling tips and/or hacks!

I'm a firm believer that cooking tips and tricks should be shared amongst everyone, since absolutely everyone deserves to have as tasty a meal as they can create. *MY* tip for today is regarding smokies, which I learned from my dad, a grill master in his own right. 

  • Have your grill on medium-high heat
  • Before the smokies hit the grill, cut a shallow spiral into the meat along its length, then flip it over and do the same thing in the opposite direction. The end result should be something like a double helix

That's it! This adds some extra texture, which is perfect for allowing your favourite bbq sauce to get down into the meat and infuse it with flavour.
