Losing a baby is terribly traumatic

As many as 50% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage

We’re sending sincere condolences to Chrissy Teigen and John Legend.  After weeks of bedrest and other complications, Chrissy anounced that they lost their third child overnight. This, after starting the day expressing relief after a close call.

“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before,” Chrissy shared in an IG post. “We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”

The supermodel went on to apologize to the son they’d come to know as Jack. “I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you,” she said before thanking everyone for his or her positive energy, thoughts, and prayers. “We feel all of your love and truly appreciate you.”

After having a miscarriage, you will need to heal, both physically and emotionally. Losing a baby is one of the most traumatic events you may ever experience. A miscarriage is not your fault. Allow yourself to grieve, and share your feelings with your partner and your health-care provider. Seek out resources in your community, or elsewhere, and join a support group if you can.  We've posted the link to local supports in Manitoba, and if you or someone you know has suffered a miscarriage, we send our love and support to you and your loved ones.
