2020 will not only be remembered for COVID, social distancing and Zoom Meetings. June 28, 2020 will go down as one of the worst single day storms in Brandon history. 70% of listeners asked on Facebook say the June 2020 Storm could be the worst ever. Environment Canada is investigating a possible touchdown near Rapid City, after issuing a tornado warning at 3:25pm Sunday. Unconfirmed reports from storm chasers on the ground reporte a tornado touched down two or three times near Rapid City and may have hit a home and caused damage to it, even though nobody was inside of the house at the time. Brandon City Police asked motorists to stay off city streets in the aftermath of the storm, as stranded cars and clogged drains created unprecidented overland flooding in the city, with streets turning to rivers, and homes and businesses suffering potentially millions in damages. Thankfully no injuries are being reported, but the cleanup will last days if not weeks. And the insurance claims are expected to be historic.
