We’ve hit our vaccination targets for the first stage of the Pallister government’s COVID re-opening plan, and we could get some details Wednesday (June 23).
Manitoba’s reopening plan is linked to first and second-dose vaccination targets, with some restrictions loosening by Canada Day if 70% of all Manitobans 12 and over have received their first shot, and 25% have received a second shot. As of Monday, we were at 71.2% and 25.4%.
No specifics were unveiled yesterday, and top doctor, Brent Roussin, said there are still other concerns like the on-going strain on the health-care system.

Meantime, a new Leger poll says 69% of Canadians want restrictions to stay in place as vaccination campaigns continue. It found that while half of us (59%) are optimistic about the coming year we seem to want a more ‘gradual, careful, and prudent approach’ to opening things up.
