Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – The Brandon Wheat Kings stunned the #3 ranked team in the CHL on Friday night, beating the Swift Current Broncos 6-3 in front of 4240 fans at Westoba Place.
Evan Weinger netted the hat-trick for the Wheat Kings who earned a valuable two points in the East Division standings on a night when the Prince Albert Raiders won and the Saskatoon Blades earned a single point in an OT loss.
The Broncos jumped out to both 2-0 and 3-2 leads but on both occasions the Wheat Kings responded. Linden McCorrister, Ty Lewis and Cole Reinhardt had the other goals for the Wheat Kings who have now won two in a row.
