Frank McGwire has been around the radio block a time or two — and he still shows up every day with quick wit, good vibes, and his trademark colourful take on… well, just about everything. From local happenings to big world stories, Frank’s the guy who can make news feel fun, friendly, and easy to listen to.
Frank graduated from Western Academy Broadcast College in Saskatoon and has been on the air for more than 30 years. He kicked things off in 1987 at CKDM in Dauphin before spending a big chunk of the ’90s in Brandon, becoming a familiar morning voice for many Manitobans.
He later headed west to Alberta, where he hosted mid‑days at 1170 CKGY, worked as Music Director, and jumped in on Zed 99 FM whenever needed.
By early 2000, Frank made his way back home to Brandon. In 2015, he was the recipient of the Radio Excellence Award from the Broadcasters of Manitoba for his longtime commitment to local radio and his support of the Westman music scene.
You can hear him weekday mornings on Q Country 91.5, keeping listeners up to speed with regular newscasts, plus he handles the noon news on both Q 91.5 FM and Star FM.

Music is my life and passion. From working in radio to running DJ services and singing in bands, I’m truly invested in what I love. Winter is my favourite season and I appreciate a good snow day if I don’t have to drive in it and I have two too many naughty Beagles that torment me daily. Fun fact, I dig Euro Pop and my favourite band is ABBA. Now come to think of it, this makes a whole lot of sense that I would be the natural host of the weekday “Retro Lunch” from Noon to 1. So pour yourself some coffee or a glass of wine and join me for some laughs and a not-to-serious Midday show from 10am-2pm on Today’s Best Music, 94-7 Star!
The Drive Home with Hayden
I was born and raised in Westman. From the mosquito-filled evenings around the campfire to winter nights spent skating and sipping hot chocolate, I’m extremely proud to call southern Manitoba my home! I graduated from the Interactive Media Arts Program at Assiniboine Community College in 2022. When I’m not singing along to Bruno Mars or Ed Sheeran, you can find me glued to a TV screen cheering on one of my favourite sports teams. Join me weekends on Today’s Best Music, 94-7 STAR!

Tune in every weekend for “the new kid on block” The Weekly Top 25 with Sarah Nick. Each week Sarah counts them down, the Top 25 hits in all of Westman, working her way up to the biggest hit at number 1. Growing up, Sarah Nick dreamed of being Cher’s backup dancer. After realizing she had next to no rhythm, she decided to pursue counting down today’s best music for your listening pleasure.
The Weekly Top 25 Countdown with Sarah Nick, can be heard twice each weekend, Saturdays from 10 in the morning till noon and Sunday afternoons from 4-6.
