The Brandon Wheat Kings have decided to go with a pair of veterans between the pipes.
On Tuesday, the club sent Connor Ungar to the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Okotoks Oilers, leaving Jiri Patera and Ethan Kruger as the team’s one-two punch between the pipes.
Ungar appeared in two pre-season games for the Wheat Kings, stopping 31 of 35 shots he faced in 60 minutes of action.
The Calgary native did not dress in either of the club’s games vs Winnipeg this weekend.

The Wheat Kings will be a little short-handed this weekend as the WHL has handed down a pair of suspensions.
Ridly Greig has been given a three-game ban for his hit on Chase Hartje in Friday’s home opener. Greig sat out the following night and will miss both games vs Moose Jaw this weekend.
Meanwhile, Ben McCartney was ejected from Saturday’s game in Winnipeg for charging Michael Teply. As a result, he will miss Friday’s game vs the Warriors.
