Top-seed Jeff Stoughton is one win away for capturing his 11th provincial men’s curling title at the Safeway Championship.
Stoughton secured his spot for the final by beating Brandon’s Mike McEwen and his Winnipeg team 9-5 in Page 1-1 Playoff on Saturday night.
McEwen drops down the semifinal where he will meet fifth-seed William Lyburn at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday with the final to follow at 2 p.m.
Lyburn rallied with four in the eighth end to edge Steve Irwin and his Brandon team 9-8 in the Page 2-2 Playoff.
Meanwhile, the Safeway Championship all-star team was unveiled.
Irwin has recognized as the top skip, Jon Mead got the honour at third, Matt Wozniak at second and Tyler Forrest at lead.
