Manitoba’s Jeff Stoughton is back on track at the Tim Hortons Brier in Kamloops.
Stoughton improved to 7-and-2 Wednesday with a 9-6 victory over Northern Ontario’s Jeff Currie and a 7-4 win over Saskatchewan’s Steve Laycock.
Stoughton got off to a quick start against Laycock in the afternoon draw, scoring a deuce in the opening end.
"We got a great deuce in the first end and then it was pretty mistake free," said Stoughton, "A lot of great shots made and you have to do that. It felt pretty good all-around for all our guys."
Alberta’s Kevin Koe, with Brandon product Nolan Thiessen at lead, and B.C’s John Morris continue to lead the standings with 8-and-1 records.
Stoughton has a key matchup with Morris on Thursday, and says his squad is starting to feel more at ease as they prepare for that important game.
"It just took us a little while to get into the groove, get used to the ice, the rocks and everything else," said Stoughton, "I think everyone starting to feel it a little bit, a little more confidence and it shows out there. There’s not as much hesitation and you just go and make the shots."
In addition to his morning game against Morris, Stoughton also faces Ontario’s Greg Balsdon on Thursday night.
