Team Canada is a step closer to defending their title at the World Under-18 Men’s Hockey Championship.
Elkhorn’s Travis Sanheim assisted on the game-winner with 31 seconds to go as the Canadians defeated the Swiss 3-2 in the quarter-finals on Thursday.
John Quenneville of the Wheat Kings scored his first goal of the tournament while Brandon teammate Jayce Hawryluk had an assist for the Canadians.
Fellow Wheat King Ryan Pilon is also on the roster for Canada who face the Czech Republic in Saturday’s semifinal.
