Minnedosa’s Jordyn Andrews is bowling for gold in nationals this weekend in Winnipeg.
The 13-year-old Andrews is competing in the Youth Bowling Canada National Championships in the five pin junior girls singles event.
This will be Andrews second time in nationals as she previously competed at the event in 2011.
"All year, I’ve been working hard to get my average higher," said Andrews. "For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been going in and bowling some extra hours to make sure I know where my lines are to get the right pins."
Andrews started bowling when she was seven years old and says she feels pretty prepared going into the weekend.
"Definitely, I’m going in as a strong bowler," said Andrews. "I just need to learn to stay positive because when I start thinking about the negative things, I start dropping my score.
"I expect myself to get over my average, which is 180ish. My goal is for it not to get to my head and to have fun."
The nationals begin on Saturday and will continue through until Monday.
