High school track and field stars in our province will be coming to the Wheat City next summer.
The MHSAA will hold the provincial championships in Brandon in June of 2016.
"We are really excited to be coming back to Brandon," said MHSAA Executive Director Morris Glimcher in a media release. "We are a provincial organization and know the importance of our athletes travelling across the Province to have an opportunity to visit different communities, while gaining diverse experience with multiple track facilities."
"The size of this event is a huge win for our community and with all the athletes staying in local hotel accommodations and using local services, it will generate a substantial economic impact for the city in timeframe that is typically not too busy," added Brandon First Executive Director Jackie Keyes.
The last time the track and field championship was held in the Wheat City was 2004.
