Isabela Onyshko of the Brandon Eagles Gymnastics Club was one of eighteen athletes named to Canada’s Gymnastics Team for next month’s 2015 Pan-American Games in Toronto on Thursday.
The appointment comes as no surprise as Onyshko is coming off a second-place finish in the all-around of the Senior Women’s Division at the Canadian Gymnatics Championship this past weekend.
Earlier this year, the 16-year old Onyshko also finished second in the all-round at the Elite Canada Competition and at the International Gymnix.
While at the Artisitic Gymnastics World Cup event in Ljubljana, she won three medals including her first world cup gold in the uneven bars and another win in the balance beam while placing second in the floor event.
Last year, Onyshko competed at the Commonwealth games and finished fourth with her team and seventh in the all-around.
She also competed at the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championship in Nanning, China and was the national champion in the beam last year.
Onyshko will have a familiar face accompanying her to Toronto.
Lorie Henderson of the Brandon Eagles will be one of the coaches for the Canadian team at the Pan-Am Games.
The Pan-Am Games take place in Toronto from July 10-26 with the artistic gymnastics competition to take place at the Toronto Coliseum from July 11-15.
