Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – Even with the absence of leading scorer Tyvon Cooper for most of the 2nd half, the Brandon Bobcats men’s basketball team grinded to a 69-64 win over the previously unbeaten Calgary Dinos in front of a raucous Healthy Living Centre crowd.
Cooper fouled out with 1:58 left in the 3rd quarter with the Bobcats up 54-49.
Jonathan Range led the way with 21 points, including three makes behind the three-point line.
Calgary only hit 4 out 29 three point shots, and only scored on 33% of their field goal tries during the game.
It was the Dinos first loss in eight games this year, as they were ranked #4 in the weekly U Sports rankings before the weekend.
Brandon now improves to 3-3 on the year.
Meanwhile, the women’s basketball team couldn’t keep up with the Dinos, losing 78-59.
Brianna Gahli and Erin McIntosh both had 17 points in the win.

In Regina, the men’s volleyball team finished the weekend sweep over the Regina Cougars with five-set victory. The women’s team lost in straight sets.
