Brandon, MB (CKLQ) – Even with a raucous crowd at the Healthy Living Centre, the Brandon Bobcats men’s basketball team couldn’t keep it close against the UBC Thunderbirds on Friday afternoon.
The #4 team in the country beat the Bobcats 98-81.
The Bobcats made it a game late in the third quarter tying the game at 67, before UBC took control with a 12-0 run.
Tyvon Copper had 22 points for the Bobcats.
UBC has a 14-1 record this year, while Brandon drops to 2-13 on the season.
Meanwhile earlier in the day, the women’s basketball team fell 77-50 to the Thunderbirds.
Keylyn Filewich had 28 points and 15 rebounds in the win for UBC.
Both teams will play rematches at the Healthy Living Centre on Saturday night.
In Regina, the women’s volleyball team fell in three straight sets to the Cougars.
