Calgary, AB (CKLQ) – The Winnipeg ICE will have the #1 overall selection at the upcoming WHL Bantam Draft in Red Deer.
The ICE who were taking part in their first Draft Lottery since relocating to the Manitoba Capital won the lottery for the "non-playoff" teams on Wednesday morning, while the Brandon Wheat Kings will pick 6th overall.
Brandon will, in fact, have three selections in the first round, and the first pick of the 2nd round (23rd overall).
The sixth overall selection is the highest the Wheat Kings have picked in the draft since 2014 when they selected Stelio Mattheos with the 1st overall pick.
The Draft will be held on Thursday, May 2nd in Red Deer.
