Portage, MB (CKLQ) – Jay Buchholz scored twice as the Portage Terriers won Game 1 of the MJHL semi-final 4-1 against the Virden Oil Capitals.
Buchholz scored what turned out to be the game-winner back in the first period.
Josh Belcher was the only one to score for Virden.
The game was 2-1 mostly throughout the game, until Portage scored two goals late in the third to put the game away.
Ethan Peterson stopped 20 of 21 shots in the win.
Game 2 is on Sunday in Virden at Tundra Oil and Gas Place at 7:30 p.m.
