2020 means more people in Westman re-connected with Manitoba through activities like camping than ever before. But not all kids and families can afford a great camping experience. That’s why, each June, Westman celebrates the amazing coffee of Tim Horton’s while helping send kids to camp at it’s annual Tim Horton’s Camp Day. Needless to say, this year is unlike any other thanks to COVID-19. But instead of canceling this great day, it simply moved. Wednesday, August 12, this year is Tim Hortons Camp Day. It’s the one day each year when Tim Hortons Restaurant Owners donate 100% of their hot coffee and iced coffee sales to the Tim Hortons® Foundation Camps who send local youth from disadvantaged circumstances to one of seven Camps across North America. Get a Camp Day bracelet available in four vibrant colors: red, blue, green, and orange for a $2 donation! You can also round up your order, with the balance of the dollar going towards the Tim Hortons® Foundation Camps. And even if you don’t like coffee you can take part, by making a one-time or monthly donation online any time at www.timscamps.com.
In 2019, Camp Day raised more than $12.3 Million for the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps. Attending a Tim Hortons Camp comes at absolutely no cost to kids or their families. Tims eCamp (Launching Summer 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic) is an all-new digital camp community built for youth from disadvantaged circumstances who need support during these uncertain times. At Tims camp, campers will be grouped into eCabins and guided by trained eCounsellors, have access to 8 weeks of structured yet flexible online programming, and have fun while building social, emotional, and developmental skills in a safe environment to help them navigate the complexities of their individual circumstances. How cool is that?
Today, there are seven camps across North America:
-Parry Sound, Ontario (opened in 1975)
-Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia (opened in 1988)
-Kananaskis, Alberta (opened in 1991)
-Quyon, Quebec (opened in 1994)
-Campbellsville, Kentucky (opened in 2001)
