When I was a kid we had one of those HUGE old 70’s Microwaves. Big as a Buick. The whole Kitchen Hummed when it was running. It had a probe so you could cook a Turkey in it (because THAT ever worked out well) and it ran just fine with the DOOR OPEN. You were, however, suppose to keep that door closed while it was operating. When it was finished a 10 second long SQUEEL would let you know. My Friend Greg told me that if you opened the door before that alarm was done, you’d flood the room with DEADLY RADIATION.
